Brand-New Website is the First Dedicated Online Home for the Peer-Led Retreat Ministry and Its #FindYourGrace Campaign
With New Web Address, www.charis.nyc, Charis NYC is among the First Faith-Based Groups to Adopt New .nyc Web Domain
NEW YORK -- Charis NYC, a ministry which presents Ignatian spirituality retreats by and for Catholic young adults of New York City, today launches its new website, www.charis.nyc. This is the first dedicated online home for the peer-led ministry, which is one of the earliest NYC faith-based groups to use the brand-new .nyc web domain.
The site will be the central information, registration, and promotional home for Charis NYC’s 2015 season of peer-led weekends rooted in Ignatian spirituality: its two classic offerings, the Seekers Retreat (January 2015) and the ‘What Next?’ Retreat (March 2015), and a third, brand-new retreat, the Still+Silent Retreat, which the Charis NYC team will develop and present in November 2015.
These weekend retreats are at the heart of #FindYourGrace, an integrated campaign inviting young adults to spend a weekend outside of the city with Charis NYC. Whether entering into a Charis NYC retreat for the first time, or again as retreat alumni, young adults can rely on Charis NYC to help them discover the community, time, support, strength -- and graces -- needed for lives as young Catholic-Christians in NYC.
The www.charis.nyc site was built by the Marketing & Communications group of the all-volunteer Charis NYC Core Team, which sought to effectively illustrate how the ministry helps young adults grow closer to God through retreats rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. By presenting compelling visual images, intuitive navigation, consistent Charis NYC branding, responsive design for mobile devices, easy online registration and payment, and -- foremost above all -- clear information, Charis NYC seeks to make it as easy as possible for its existing audiences -- young adults, parishes, and related groups -- to inform themselves on Charis NYC retreats, and the Ignatian spirituality resources available to them in New York City.
In developing this site, Charis NYC responds to changing needs in the life of the Catholic Church, and to the recent call of the New York Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), to develop “a more nimble and mobile ministry that reaches many more people,” with effective methods of offering retreats, spiritual direction, and other formation in Ignatian spirituality. Comprised of volunteers in their 20s-30s from throughout New York City, and independent of a specific retreat house, Charis NYC demonstrates the kind of collaboration supported by internet technologies, highly adaptable in concept and execution.
The site, developed according to a Charis NYC project proposal in September 2014, was built on-time and on-budget, and addresses Charis NYC retreatant and user feedback, the desire to establish a clearer Charis NYC brand identity, and the ministry’s increased retreat activity in 2015.
Prior to www.charis.nyc’s official launch -- which opens the registration period for the January 2015 Seekers Retreat -- members of the Charis NYC team laid hands on and “blessed” the new website during the Charis NYC Community Happy Hour at the Rubin Museum in Chelsea. “May this site signify your Good News, and may we always click "Yes" to the evite you send to our inbox. May we in Charis NYC meet these seekers where they are, and accompany them as friends and disciples,” read part of this blessing.
Original page content and additional, helpful information will be posted to www.charis.nyc in coming weeks.
