CHARIS NYC: OUR RETREAT VENUES

Charis NYC holds retreats at two venues in the New York area: Mariandale Retreat Center, in Ossining, NY, and new in 2018, Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown, NJ.

About Loyola Jesuit Center

Loyola Jesuit Center is located on over thirty acres of beautiful lawns, gardens and woodlands in a quiet section of Morristown in northern New Jersey. It is in this peaceful atmosphere that thousands of retreatants have come since 1927.

Loyola offers beautiful landscaped gardens surrounded by woodlands in a quiet, peaceful setting for reflection and contemplation. Indoors, the chapels, meeting spaces, dining hall and individual private rooms maintain a comfortable and tranquil environment for retreatants. Loyola is your “home away from home.”

Retreatants enjoy private rooms with a sink and mirror. All rooms are furnished with single beds, linens, towels, a small desk for study or writing and a kneeler for prayer.  Showers are located on each floor.

The gardens and surrounding woodlands play an important role in the retreat experience at Loyola. In this fast-paced world, it’s more important than ever to have a place to unplug from technology and plug-in to God through nature.

About Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center

Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center, located 35 miles north of New York City in Ossining in scenic Westchester County, is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Hope. Less than an hour’s drive or train ride from New York City, Mariandale is situated on 55 acres on the eastern bank of the Hudson River.

Situated at the edge of a peaceful wooded area, the Center faces west to a view of the Palisades, overlooking the valley and its beautiful sunsets. This bucolic setting is the perfect place to get away for a weekend.

Individual rooms for overnight guests as well as ample space for small groups allow retreatants to rest, relax, and reconnect with God and others.

Mariandale’s chapel, with its African mahogany seating and circular plan, offers a quiet and prayerful space for meditation. A hammered bronze reredos with an abstract sculpture of the “Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit” and the rich, gloriously colored, stained glass windows depicting “The Creed” provide a joyful atmosphere for the celebration of liturgy.
